The Gallimore Dairy Site is a smaller stream and wetland restoration project in the Piedmont physiographic region of North Carolina. The project is located in Guilford County along the western edge of Greensboro.
While smaller projects may not appear to have significant impact relative to larger projects, in the case of some projects, like this one, the long-term positive impact is invaluable because water quality in a highly urbanized portion of the Cape Fear 03 watershed will be radically improved. With no active mitigation banks available in this basin, this project will allow for immediate water quality and habitat improvements before the confluence with the East Fork Deep River, ultimately providing treatment for the entire catchment. Amazing!
This client needed improved water quality on-site where impacts had occurred. Our restoration solution helps them avoid the negative effect of temporal lag delays associated with paying into the ILF program. The project will include the reduction of nutrient loads from urban development, sedimentation from upstream, and restore 400 linear feet of stream along with adjacent wetland pockets. The project will result in both ecological and water-quality benefits within the urbanized portion of the Cape Fear 03 where restoration opportunities are hard to find
This project site will be constructed in the Summer of 2024.
