The Sweet Harper Mitigation Bank is located in Morgan County, Georgia, approximately two miles west of Madison, within the Upper Oconee River primary service area. The conservation easement covers approximately 85.2 acres.
Morgan County has grown by roughly 17.5% over the last decade. That growth creates real demand for stream and wetland restoration and protection. The unnamed tributaries on this site capture the headwaters of roughly 0.64 square miles of drainage area and feed directly into Big Indian Creek at the eastern edge of the property. Most of those features are currently in poor condition, which makes this an excellent candidate for meaningful ecological improvement.
The project will restore and protect approximately 10,385 linear feet of intermittent and perennial tributaries, reestablishing their structure, function, and habitat. We’ll also drain one large on-site pond and restore native habitat within the old pond bed. It’s the kind of work that makes a big difference by restoring a landscape, and is at the heart of our passion.
